Here you'll find 29 pictures of some popular Portugal travel destinations.

Blue Tiles (3 pictures)
Blue tile work is one of the things that makes me think of Portugal.

Coimbra City Views (4 Pictures)
Coimbra is a university town. In fact, the university was founded on the 13th of August in 1290 by King Dinis--making it one of the oldest in the world. It's worth visiting, if only for the exceptional Baroque library. There are also the fados de Coimbra, called a "happier" fado than those sung in other places in Portugal.

Coimbra Garden (4 pictures)
Across the river from the city is a grand old garden--at the time of the photos it was rotting magnificently. Part of the estate of the Quinta das Lágrimas (Estate of Tears), the garden may be less overgrown these days, since the main palace was converted to a luxury hotel in 1995, so you can now stay right on the grounds.

Lisbon Pictures - This is our 24 image picture gallery of Lisbon, Portugal.

Lisbon - Views from the Castelo de São Jorge (4 pictures)
Here you'll find a view of the city from the castle walls, and pictures of the birds that wander around inside.

Lisbon - Ruins of the Carmo Church (3 pictures)
The Carmo church was, like most of the churches in Lisbon, destroysed in the extrordinary Lisbon earthquake that took place at November 1st at 9:40 AM in 1755 (thought to have been a 9 on the richtor scale) while a large portion of the Lisbon population was at All Saints' Day mass. The gothic monument was founded by Nuno Álvares Pereira, and has been standing like this since that time. What's left of it sometimes resembles the cockpit of a jet fighter, as the second picture shows. There is a good museum on the site.

Porto - Oporto (14 Pictures)
Porto is a great place to sit and watch the river flow, or go across the bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia and taste some Port or take a tour of the famous Port houses that line the banks of the Douro river.

Porto - Vila Nova de Gaia (4 Pictures)
Here's where the age the port wine that's grown upstream. It has great views of Porto, of course.

Sintra (4 pictures)
Accessable by train, the town of Sintra and surounding area is worth a day trip. Pictured here is the town taken from the train station, and three views of the Moorish Castle, 3.5 km out of town. It's a steep climb up, but rewarding, if only for the fact that when your pictures are developed, people will swear that you've been to the great wall of China!
